Wolfenstein 2 Critic review:

Cheat Code Central:

When it isn’t being serious, Wolfenstein II is being absurdly funny. Perhaps because of the aggressive subject matter, this game goes out of its way to give the player time to breathe and laugh a little. Wolfenstein II isn’t afraid to go for a little corny, juvenile gag every now and then. Sometimes it gets crass or so head-scratchingly bizarre, it’s hard to tell who the joke is for. But it all feels earned and helps sell the game’s brazen tone for what it is, a fast, dirty and human take on the world around us, dressed up as a nonsense sci-fi epic about a southern Captain America proxy blasting Nazis and robots to smithereens with impossible weapons. GameSpot:

The New Colossus picks up right after the events of The New Order, and unsurprisingly, our hero Blazkowicz is in bad shape. Following the explosion during the fight with Deathshead, BJ’s insides are falling out, and the crew of the Kreisau Circle does their best to put him back together again. General Engel tracks them down five months later, and as her troops storm the resistance’s stolen U-boat (Eva’s Hammer, your base of operations), Blazkowicz wakes up to shoot more Nazis. Venture Beat:

Throughout the game, you’ll stumble across letters, notes, and conversations of “free” American people continuing to lead relatively normal lives. In one town, a pair of high-school-age boys talk about taking their dates to a wholesome, government-sanctioned film before casually mentioning the German lessons they have planned for the weekend. In that same town, a mother watches a parade and proudly boasts in her American accent about her son joining the Nazi military. Even the KKK give up their pseudo-libertarian ideology and Protestant Christianity in favor of Nazi socialism and German Catholicism. Read Full review…

IGN:

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is a fantastic single-player shooter, but what really got me invested was the brilliantly written characters and the performances of its cast. BJ and his crew are full of spirit and personality, and General Engel is as memorable a nemesis as you’re likely to find in games. Machine Games has once again turned the well-worn act of mowing down Nazis into something to get excited about. Read full Review….

Twinfinite:

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a fluid, brutal, and challenging first-person shooter and one that is insane and over-the-top from start to finish, but it is the unique cast of characters and the story they’re a part of that shines. B.J and his crew of revolutionaries add heart and humor to the otherwise bleak world and help create some of the most memorable moments in single-player focused games this year. Machine Games has built on what made The New Order great to produce one of this generation’s finest shooters. Read Full Review…
